Introduction
• Product prototyping using 3D printing technology. Demonstration of 3D design software. Discussion around how this is used in industry and potential jobs of the future.
• Digitizing real world objects, demonstration of 3D scanning and attendees get a chance to get scanned
• The 3D printing process – demonstration of our 3D printer
• The laser cutting and engraving process – demonstration of our Laser
• Introduction to Thingiverse and similar resources for print/cut files
Hands on Laser Cutting and Engraving
Attendees will then get to design their own object using computer design software and then send it to the laser to be made. They will be able to use a variery of materials including plywood, bamboo, slate, and acrylic.
Hands on 3D printing
Attendees will get to design a new item for 3D printing – or they can download an existing item from Thingiverse and then modify it and print. (NB due to the speed of the 3D printing process it may be necessary to have to collect the 3D print at a later date).
