Eco Friendly Upgrade for Clane Project Centre
County Kildare LEADER Partnership are delighted to award funding of €31,697.25 to Clane Project Centre CLG for an upgrade of their lighting and heating to new energy efficient systems at the Thompson Enterprise Centre in Clane.
Funding under the Rural Development (LEADER) Programme will go towards the installation of energy efficient heaters and led light fittings at the Enterprise Centre to future proof the building against rising energy costs.
CEO Ted Murray said “The LEADER funding will help us to make a substantial saving on our energy costs. With these savings, we can continue to offer high quality, competitively priced incubation and business facilities to start-up businesses and encourage entrepreneurship in the North Kildare area.”
Kildare Local Community Development Committee approved the funding saying that the Centre had a proven track record of supporting local start up enterprises. Clane Project Centre is a community owned not for profit company limited by guarantee. Built in 1995, the Centre has created over 300 local jobs.
Helen Mulhall, Rural Development Officer with CKLP said that the project is an example of best practice in how community and local enterprises can taking practical steps to address climate change at a local level.
The project is being financed by LEADER as part of Ireland’s Rural Development Programme which is part financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. LEADER aims to foster local development in Rural Areas.
