The TÚS Programme was launched by the Department of Social Protection in December 2010 and will provide up to 5,000 placements nationally for long term unemployed people with community and voluntary groups.

County Kildare LEADER Partnership works with local voluntary groups to ensure that work placements are consistent with the skills and experience of participants on the programme.
Both supervisors and participants are employees of County Kildare LEADER Partnership and there will be a total of 220 places for County Kildare.
Key aims
  • To provide short-term quality working opportunities for people who are unemployed,
  • To carry out beneficial work within community and voluntary groups.
Participants are randomly selected by the Department of Social Protection from the live register and interviewed by CKLP.
Participants work 19 and a half hours per week and receive a top up on their social welfare payment of €20 per week.
Community organisations who wish to take part are asked to complete an application form, and to provide detailed work plans for participants.
  • Download Application form for Host Groups
Eligibility is subject to the body being not-for-profit, having a recognized formal structure, having a good track record of providing community services and demonstrating the capability to manage a Tύs worker with the support of CKLP.
