Na Fianna Men’s Shed, Allenwood raise €4,250 for local St. Vincent de Paul with restored tractor

Na Fianna Men’s Shed is located in Allenwood, Co. Kildare.
We have our own Shed and 22 active members.
A couple of years ago a vintage tractor was donated to us. It was in serious disrepair and really only had a scrap value.
A decision needed to me made, either to try and do something with it or scrap it. We decided to rebuild almost from scratch. This project started earlier this year, and the lads obtained mainly new parts and the total restoration continued right up to end of November.
The next decision was to decide what to do with the tractor, as we already had our own tractor. With the consent of the previous owner it was agreed that we would raffle the tractor and donate proceeds to our local SVP organisation after restoration costs.
It was a wonderful success and we were able to hand over a cheque for E4250 to SVP.
It was a great community project and we were so pleased to have played such a vital role in this project, and our members with their various skill sets did a wonderful job.
