What is Kildare Roma Support Programme?
Kildare Roma  Support Programme was designed and developed by CKLP, with funding secured by the Department of Justice and Equality. Responding to the needs identified by the Roma community in County Kildare during consultations with Roma for the County Kildare Traveller and Roma Inclusion Strategy 2019-2023, the Kildare Roma Support Programme aims to reduce poverty and promote social inclusion of Roma people in County Kildare.

 

What does the Programme entail?
Kildare Roma Employment Support Programme identifies and engages with the Roma community throughout County Kildare, providing channels for referrals to supporting service providers, access to training, and pre-employment supports.

 

What do we provide?
The Programme provides:

Guidance and referral for Social Welfare, Health Services and other tailored support for specific needs of members within Roma community (Applications for PPS numbers, Habitual Residence, interpretation services, etc.)

Access to training – facilitating access to short term courses (Manual Handling, Safe Pass, Home Care Repair and Maintenance, etc.) that would lead to opportunities for skilled and unskilled jobs.

Access to pre-employment and employment supports through:

  • One to One Career Planning
  • Career Skills Programme
  • Finding Your Feet Programme
  • CV Preparation
  • Interview Skills
  • Youth Employment
  • Job-Search Programme

Guidance and support for developing and managing Social Enterprise, including access to pre-enterprise courses, if necessary.

Our programme includes non- accredited, accredited, and industry-certified courses:

  • Skills Development: Computers – Basic and Smart Tech
  • QQI 3: Career Skills
  • QQI 4: HACCP; Home Care Repair and Maintenance
  • Industry Certified: Safe Pass; Manual Handling
  • Employment Placement: Kickstart Programme
  • Additional courses, as identified by Roma community, will be explored as needed.

In addition to all the above, the programme provides Drop-in services throughout County Kildare, currently in Celbridge, Naas, Newbridge and Athy. For details on location and schedule, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We also engage with a wide range of service providers to receive and provide referrals.
If linking with service providers Roma community can ask for a referral to the Employment Support Programme.
Service Providers who wish to refer members of the Roma community to the Programme should seek the individual’s consent
