What is the YEI Project?

The Youth Employability Initiative is a project designed to provide support, soft skills training, advice and guidance to young people aged 16-18 years, who are not in education or currently pursuing employment or training, to enhance their personal skills and employability.

 

What does the Programme Entail?

The programme involves one to one mentoring and coaching sessions to develop and work through a personal action plan which is young person centred. These sessions provide practical supports for the young person where they can avail of advocacy and referral to other local services enhancing their confidence and ability to build positive relationships with other adults.

The programme also provides group workshops and activities for the young people to enhance their social and personal development, such as confidence, self-esteem, building relationships, creativity and imagination, resilience and determination. The young people also engage on trips, such as visits to the cinema, bowling, museums and off-road driver training practice. There is also the opportunity for young people to attend an overnight trip where they can put their newly developed personal and

First Aid, Manual Handling, Safe Pass

Skills Summary Award, Driver Theory Course, Literacy Support, Interviews Skills, IT skills, CV skills, interpersonal effectiveness and teamwork skills.

A young person can be referred to the programme via their school or any relevant service, by their parents or themselves if they have reached the age of 18years.
