The SICAP Supporting Communities Team has been busy over the past few weeks shopping for people in their locality. They are assisting a new group Allen Parish Area Covid Response who are helping people in their area. It’s a remarkable group as many of the members have never met one another. The group are helping people with shopping, dog walking, collecting medication and lots more. In particular they are helping those that are required to cocoon. It is great to see people are using this group and limiting the footfall of people going to the stores. You can see this from the photo of our Outreach Worker Nicolas car full of groceries. While it is testing times for all it is humbling to see how communities are coming together to support one another..

The group have been overwhelmed with the support and people who have come forward to volunteer. One volunteer Agata has made over 100 face masks to assist a local nurse working in Connolly hospital.

People are sharing books, plants, paints, fresh eggs and having drop off points for people to swap and borrow items without meeting one another. In times like this it is really showing of how small communities are mighty when they work together.

Our Outreach Worker Nicola is linking in and supporting this group and other community group online and by text, Whatsapp etc during the lock down. If you require any SICAP supports please contact her Nicola@countykildarelp.ie/ 086- 0208666
