Our two Small Jobs operatives ,Kevin and Peter set off on their first job for South Kildare Small Jobs this week –
Mary, who is supported by Older Voices Kildare befriending service, was very happy to be one of the first participants in the new trial programme.
She needed her front and side wall painted and spruced up for the summer.
Kevin and Peter, set about preparing the area , sanding the wall and painting for her.
Having spoken to Mary afterwards she was delighted with the job and expressed how easy it was to contact the service, make her appointment and have the job completed. She felt safe, and Kevin and Peter were so friendly and she enjoyed the socially distanced chat too! She was so thankful that the job could be done for her and so efficiently.
South Kildare Small jobs is in a Trail Phase at the moment and accepting jobs across the area.
South Kildare Small Jobs Service (SKSJ)
The aim of SKSJ is to provide a property maintenance service for small household jobs for people 65 and over living in South Kildare area.
This initiative is being trialled from the middle of May until end of June 2021. The trial is free, and if successful will revert to an affordable subscription service
SKSJ supply the manpower, the equipment and the customer supply’s any materials to do the job.
Initially it will focus outside jobs in line with Covid restrictions.

🔹It’s a trial, so totally free ! Customer can request up to 6 call outs.
🔹There is NO obligation whatsoever to sign up after the trial period.
🔹A small job is any small DIY job…..….. not a job you would need to get a tradesman in for.
🔹When customer calls, it will be assessed if the jobs fit their small jobs policy if not SKSJ can offer them a list of local tradesmen.
After the trial, SKSJ are signing up tradesman who come recommended for fairly pricing and good service. The customer is of course under NO obligation to use any of the trades on our list, its only for support reasons we offer this list.
🔹A call out is deemed to be 1 ½ hrs (so if you were changing lights bulbs, batteries in smoke alarms, putting in up or taking down from the attic these would make up one call out or small gardening jobs such as cutting a small lawn area, wedding a flower bed, painting a gate or sweeping a small yard)
🔹Workers carry ID and will only ever turn up at the agreed appointment time.
🔹If interested in signing up after the free trial period the cost will be €35.00 annual subscription. For your €35.00 you get 6 call outs in the following 12 month period.
🔹Trial customers will be asked to give SKSJ some feedback to help them offer the best possible service when South Kildare Small Jobs is launched after the trial period.
